You can browse the Learning Zone as a guest user but most of the courses and resources need you to log in. For this you need to create a learning account, a very quick and easy process. (note – if you registered on the SFC Learning Zone you can use the same login details)
To begin using the Learning Zone for any of our courses, you’ll need to create an account. This account can then be used for any other future courses you enroll on. To do this, click ‘login’ at the top right of the screen.
Then under the ‘is this your first time here?’ section, click ‘Create new account’.
Just fill in the information on screen and click ‘Create my new account’. You will then be sent an email with a link to activate your account. After clicking the link, your account will be activated and you can login using the details you provided.
We have tried to keep the design of the Learning Zone simple so most resources or external links will open in a separate window, once viewed these can be closed and the home page will still be there. If you take a link to one of our courses or resources section then these will open in place of the home page. To navigate your way back it is better not to use the "back" button on your browser, instead use the breadcrumb trail which appears at the top left of the item.
An example breadcrumb trail is shown below:
1. I have forgotten my password. What do I do?
You can request a new password from the learning zone website. Again on the login box on the home page you will see a link called ‘lost password’. Simply click on this link and follow the instructions. An email will be sent to you asking you to confirm your request for a new password.
2. I have forgotten my username. What do I do?
You need to contact the site administrators on 0800 2888 329 or email@example.com. Please provide your name and surname so we can check your account.
3. Can I change my password?
Yes you can. When you login you will notice your name at the very top right hand corner of the home page. Click on your name and you will be taken to your ‘profile page’. Every user has a profile page on the learning zone and you can use this to update your details and even upload a photo of yourself. On your profile page at the bottom you will see a ‘change password’ button. Click on this and follow the instructions to change your password.
4. Can I change my account email address?
Yes you can. If you have got a new email address and need to update the one you selected when first registering for the learning zone, simply follow these instructions.
Go to your profile page. Once there click on the ‘edit profile’ tabe. Find the email address field and simply delete the old one and add your new one. Once this is done scroll down the page and click on the ‘update profile’ button. You will then be sent an email to confirm your new email account.
5. Using your user profile
When you create a learning account on the learning zone you have access to your ‘user profile’. You can access your profile by clicking on your name at the top of the page. This appears once you have logged in to the site. The profile allows you to change your password, your email address, update your city or country, add a photo to your account, add a description of yourself and your interests as well. We recommend that you have a look at your profile and fill out the various sections. Not all are compulsory so you do not have to fill them in if you don’t want to. To update your details simply click on the ‘edit profile’ tab.
Most people think that online learning demands high level computer skills. The truth is, if you can shop, bank, book a holiday or download music you have no problems accessing the courses on the learning zone. In fact there are more similarities than differences between learning online and learning within a traditional classroom environment.
